Meet Katharina, from Germany: She Bought a Stunning Apartment in Argegno For Her Family's Getaways
Every client of us is a universe: the reasons that brought him/her to Lake Como are often countless, unexpected, even surprising.
It’s always pretty fascinating for us to hear our clients’ stories: why they have decided to buy in a particular village at Lake Como rather than in another, why they felt in love with the area, what made them fall head over heels for the property they ended up buying. At the end of the day, we are all made of stories - beautiful stories that they’re always worth hearing.
Today we share with you the story of Katharina, a lovely German nutritionist and a marathon runner who bought with her husband Alexander a fabulous apartment in Argegno - a great opportunity and a safe investment she was able to identify and secure immediately after the very first viewing (another proof that love at first sight do exists when it comes to properties!).

Tell us a bit about your story. Why have you chosen Lake Como as a location for buying your second home in Italy? Did you know the area before? Have you explored the rest of Italy? What did you know about Lake Como / what was your perception of the lake from Germany?
The apartment in Argegno was a very impulsive purchase, which we didn't really plan for this year. After spending our vacation at the Lago di Como (in San Siro) for the first time in August 2022, we were immediately in love with this place and decided to start looking for the appropriate property, as we already had an idea before about buying any property abroad. Lago di Como is the place which completely meets our expectations and needs of a perfect place for a hideaway. In Germany the lake is known as a prestigious place for vacations with gorgeous views, beautiful old cities, with a lot of nature and mild climate. We visited many parts of Italy, but Lago di Como was the best location for us.
What do you think makes Lake Como so special compared to other locations in Italy or Europe?
It's so Italian and so international at the same time, which makes this place very unique and comfortable to be.

You end up buying a wonderful apartment in Argegno, a truly enviable property many had noticed on the market. What made you fall in love with it and with the location?
During the first vacation we explored only the side from Domaso to Tremezzo including Bellagio and mostly liked Menaggio until we visited the property in Argegno. It was love at first sight as we saw this unique view from the apartment. But also the apartment itself had a very cosy atmosphere, so that we got a feeling, as if we have lived there before.
How was your property search at Lake Como? Have you visited many properties around?
We saw in general 5 apartments and the choice was very obvious for us. Also the friendly agents from Lakeside gave us a very good impression so that it was a double good choice.
Do you think it's easy to buy a property at Lake Como overall? Did you find any difficulty/challenge along the way?
Before we thought that the purchase of the property abroad would not be so easy, but the team at Lakeside is so well organized and we felt very comfortable and supported during and even after the whole purchasing process.
What do you feel like recommending to foreign clients who are looking for their second home at Lake Como?
I would definitely recommend Lakeside to every foreign client!

The song which brings me back to Argegno is by Valentino Felice, “L’equilibrio”.
Is there any other location of Lake Como you particularly like? - and if so, why?
We love Menaggio a lot, as it was the place which inspired us to buy a property at Lago di Como.
