Italy, a country renowned for its rich history, cultural treasures and delectable cuisine, is also celebrated for its exceptional wines. With a winemaking tradition that spans centuries, Italy stands proudly as one of the world’s premier wine-producing nations. From the sun-kissed vineyards of Tuscany to the terraced slopes of the Amalfi Coast, Italy offers an enchanting tapestry of diverse wine regions, grape varieties and winemaking techniques that captivate wine enthusiasts worldwide.

Italian wine culture is deeply rooted in the country’s historical legacy. Ancient Romans were among the first to cultivate vineyards and appreciate the art of winemaking. The influence of the Roman Empire can still be felt today, as many vineyards and wineries are situated on land that has been used for viticulture for centuries.

One of the most significant aspects of Italian wine is the concept of “terroir” . Terroir encompasses the unique combination of soil, climate, topography and traditional winemaking practices that lend each wine its distinct character. From the alpine vineyards of Northern Italy to the sun-drenched hills of Sicily, the diverse terroirs contribute to the incredible variety of wines produced across the country.

INFERNO FIAMME ANTICHE - AR.PE.PE

Valtellina Superiore Inferno Fiamme Antiche from Ar.Pe.Pe. is a deep and complex red wine. Its peculiar name refers to the singular granitic composition of the growing soil which is exposed to the direct rays of the sun, which perfectly ripen the grapes. This is the secret of the aging of the grapes, which come exclusively from the steep sunny slopes of the municipality of Poggiridenti.

Crafted exclusively from 100% Chiavennasca (Nebbiolo) grapes, the harvest begins in October with meticulous hand selection. Aged for 15 months in barrels and bottles, it delivers fine-textured tannins and lively freshness.

A nebbiolo endowed with a fine-textured tannin and a lively freshness which on the nose tells of alpine herbs followed by spicy notes of black pepper. VINO SBAGLIATO - DIRUPI

"Vino Sbagliato" is a special kind of red wine from the Sforzato della Valtellina region, made with care and deep respect for the Nebbiolo grape. Its unique name, which means "wrong wine," comes from its creators, Pierpaolo and Davide, who initially doubted their creation before achieving an exceptional result.

The grapes grow in high-altitude vineyards, about 600 meters above sea level, in soil that's rich in sand and formed by ancient glaciers. The grapes are slightly dried before being pressed and fermented in steel tanks, followed by a 20-day soaking period. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for 12 months and spends another year aging in the bottle.

When you look at Vino Sbagliato Dirupi, it reveals itself to the eye with a very dark and intense color, impenetrable, reminiscent of ruby shades.  Its aroma is complex, starting with red fruit and moving to spicy and balsamic notes. The taste is consistent, powerful, with a noticeable tannin feel.

This wine is unique, a true reflection of its makers' dedication and the Dirupi philosophy.

It's already excellent but can also age well over time. The tradition of drying grapes after the harves, known as Sfursàt or Sforzato, highlights the region's climate and grape quality, making this wine a genuine representation of Valtellina's winemaking heritage.

AMANTI - CANTINE ANGELINETTA

Here we are once again with Cantine Angelinetta, one of our favorite wine producers on Lake Como. Located in Domaso and established in 2009, it was born from the aspiration of Emanuele and Eleonora to transform the family's production into a small professional winery.

Introducing our second selection from their esteemed collection: "Amanti".

Amanti is an experience—a metodo classico extra brut from Lake Como, a rarity to find. Crafted from a blend of old vines (Trebbiano, Garganega, Riesling, Sauvignon), this wine offers a unique taste sensation.

The grapes undergo fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Subsequently, the wine is refined for 9 months, always in steel, and aged for at least 30 months on the lees after the tirage.

Similar to its counterpart, "Occhi Blu," the label of Amanti is a testament to artistic collaboration. Designed by the renowned painter Felice Beltramelli, it draws inspiration from his masterpiece titled "Amanti" (Lovers), portraying two human-like figures intertwined in a dance of unity, reminiscent of two trees merging into a single entity.

Occhi Blu” (literally translated as “Blue Eyes”) is a pure Sauvignon, generous in varietal notes combined with structure and acidity. It is complex and rich but also with great savoriness and elegance thanks to the influence of the lake.

It takes its name from the label designed by the local artist Felice Beltramelli. The opera represents two blue eyes on the shores of Lake Como.

It is vinified in a special way with the aim of having a long-lived wine that can evolve over time and of great depth.
